Possessives (Los Posesivos)

In Asturian the possessives may follow or precede the nouns. The nominal forms are used after the noun, while the adjacent forms occur before the nown and with a definite article.

Note: The west Asturian dialects have different masculine and feminine paradigms for the adjacent forms, the femines being: la mía, la tua, la súa, las mías, las túas, las súas.

Note that the article may be omitted when the nouns refer to family:

Mio casa or La mio casa,
To pá tu padre or El to pá.

Periphrastical forms (Formes perifrástiques)

In the periphrastical forms is used the neuter possessives followed by the preposition de:
de mio, de to, de so, de nueso, de vueso, cf.:

Ye'l fíu de nueso.
Ye la fía de to.
Ye'l carbón de so.

In Asturian the indefinites are variable and invariable and may be used either as adjectives or pronouns.

Notes:

Tal / talu are equivalent, but talu is never used before a noun, cf.:

Un casu tal and Tal casu
or Un casu talu.

Moreover, tal do agree in number and gender with the noun to which it is referred:

Una persona tala.
Diz coses tales qu'asústame.

Daqué / dello / dalgo mean something (=Sp. algo), but are not always equivalent.
Dello has a restrictive or partitive meaning (it refers to uncountable nouns):

Si hai pan, apúrrime dello Si hai pan alcanzame algo (de él).

Dello and dalgo are used with countable nouns:

Trabayo daqué.
Trabayo dalgo.

Abondu may function as adjective either before or after the noun. Before the noun it means much, many and after the noun it has the meaning sufficient, enough:

Hai abonda xente.
Hai xente abondo.

Enforma is not to be confounded with en forma. It may be used either before or after the noun:

Hai enforma llibros.
Hai llibros enforma.
