Asturian verbs are classified into three conjugational groups, recognizable by their infinitive endings in -ar, -er and -ir. There are not compound tenses, except in the central-eastern zone of the Asturian areal, where is used compound pluperfect indicative (hubiera dicho I had spoken), but this phenomenon is not considered normative by the official grammar. Moreover, in this zone, under Spanish influence, are developing compound forms like había dicho that tend to replace the simple forms like dixera. The official grammar recommed the compound tenses to be constructed with tener rather than haber.
The final consonants of the verbs are apocoped in two cases:
