Semideponent
verbs (Verba semideponentia)
The circumflected accents
are used to mark the long vowels.
A few Latiin verbs have in the perfect
tenses passive forms only, but with active meanings. They were called by
the ancient grammarians semideponent verbs.
There are four basic semideponent
verbs and some more derived from them:

audeo, ausus sum, 2 to
dare
-
gaudeo, gavisus sum, 2 to
be glad, to rejoice

soleo, solitus sum, 2 to
be in the habit of, to become accustomed to
-
fido, fisus sum, 3 to
believe
confido, confisus sum, 3 to
have confidence in
diffido, diffisus sum, 3 to
distrust, to lack confidence in.
