Generally, the usage of the punctuation marks in Spanish follows the pattern of the other
modern European languages. There are used the following punctuation marks:

It is peculiar to Spanish orthography to use an inverted mark of interrogation or exclamation at the beginning of sentences as well as the normal mark at the end, cf.:
